In the New England tournaments, Rick pitched from 1971 thru 1977 in the junior boys competition. He was Mass State champion four times, 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977. He was the Mass Open champion in 1975 and 1976. He was New England JUNIOR tournament Champion in 1974 and 1975. Other tournaments he won were the January thaw in 1974, St. Patrick's Day Open in 1973, Twin County in 1973, Rhode Island Open in 1973, 1974, 1975, 1978, Easter Ham Shoot in 1974, 1975 and 1977. Also Lincoln's Birthday in 1975, Spring warm-up in 1975, Maine Open in 1975, Turkey Shoot in 1975, Tom Laurino Memorial in 1976, Keene Open in 1974 and 1975, Heritage championship in 1978, Vermont Open in 1972, 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977. Also Franklin Fall Open in 1975, Franklin Spring Open in 1976, Maine Sprit of 76 in 1976, KeeneWarm-up in 1978.

In the men's competition he won the Portland Open in 1979. In 1981 he was the mass State Class B Champion. He won the qualifying class in the Tournament of Champions and class 2 in the Turkey Shoot that year. In 1983 he finished third in class B he finished third in class B in the Keene Open. In 1984, Mass State Class A 3rd place 4-3 with an 59.6% average, Keene Open class B 2nd place 5-2 with a 61.4% average, new England Class A 4th place 3-4 with a 62,4% average. In 1985 Dracut Open class A 5th place 3-4 with a 55.3% average. Also Keene Open class B 8th place 0-7 with a 46.9% average, 1988 four tournaments 57.7%, 1989 four tournaments 56.4%. In 1990 four tournaments 55.1%. In 1991 Keene warm-up 7th place class B 1-6 56.4%, Mass Open 4th place class B 4-3, 58%. Keene Open 8th place class B 0-7, 51%, Mass State class A 7th place 3-6, 56%, 1992 six tournaments 54.5% details unknown.
