During the years, he has pitched and won a number of tournaments in his class. However, his most notable achievement has been in the area of organizer.

His first exposure to the game of horseshoes was at the age of ten where he learned to pitch a three-quarter turn style shoe by watching his dad pitching in the backyard.

In 1974, Tom became more involved in horseshoes after joining the Concord Elks Horseshoes League and served as its President/Secretary. He ran the Tuesday night league games by preparing weekly scheduled matches and keeping all the stats on each player. Although the Elks' was never a sanction league, there were number of players who were NHHPA members.

Tom also ran a number of friendly rivalry tournament between the Nashua Horseshoe Club and the Elks Club.

Tom was President of the NHHPA from 1988-1989 and was Vice President from 2001 to 2005. He also served as Chairman on the Hall of Fame Committee, for over a ten year period. During his time as Chairman, he had the honor and privilege of inducting a number of nominees to the Hall of Fame.

His organizational skills were also put to good use in 1990, when he re-set all the text and arrange all the photos for the new Hall of Fame display case ---- which he continues to maintain.

In 2007, Tom applied his artistic talent to re-design of the new NHHPA shoulder patch.
