Mearl "Bud" Balargeon

Bud was a member of the old "Springfield Horseshoe Club" at the start of 1969. He helped to clear out the area for the courts, and installed courts, helped with the fence and lights.

Bud held many offices in the Springfield Club, one was being Tournament Director, and he ran many tournaments; for instance the States, the Southern, and the Vermont open.

Bud was a friend to all horseshoe players, and help to teach them the fundamentals of the game.

Bud played in many Vermont State Tournaments through the years in Class A and lower.

He participated in many New England Tournaments from 1966, 67, 68, 70, 72, 73, and 1978. In 1967, Class EE, 1st place with a record of 7 wins 0 loss, averaging 45.8%. In 1972, 1st place in Class E with a record of 7 and 0; averaging 38.5%. In 1977, 2nd place with a 5 and 2 - 37.5%.

The VT H.P.A. is very proud and fortunate to have Merle "Bud" Balargeon to be inducted into the Vermont Hall of Fame as an Organizer.
