|Myron Selleck became
interested in horseshoe pitching in 1983. He is a member of the
Sodbuster Horseshoe Club. Myron throws left handed, and has used many
types of horseshoes.
Myron and his wife Connie live in Middlebury. They have three children, Scott, Torri, and Heather. They have been married for twenty years. Myron is a very devoted Father.
Myron has been a Middlebury Firefighter for twenty years. He previously worked for his Father, and various other jobs. He is now employed by Middlebury College, as an electrician.
Myron and Connie received the "Sodbusters Special Recognition Award" in 1989. Over the years Myron has displayed hard working values to better the Sodbusters Club. He has held many offices, including Secretary in 1983,1988, and 1993. Recorder in 1985, and 1987. State Representative 1989-1992. Tournament Director from 1987-1992.
Myron started the "Double Ringers Club" in 1984. This is our major fund raiser for the club. He has been the coordinator for this in 1988-1989. Also in 1999-2000.
Myron is a very active member of the Sodbuster Horseshoe Club. He designed and built the utility shed in 1985. Was responsible for the PA system in 1986. He was the driving force for putting in our electrical lines, and water lines. He helped with the lights, and put up our fences. In 1999, he helped install the new walkways, and the drainpipes.
Myron is also active in the Vt. H.P.A.. He is presently the Vermont State Secretary. He has held this position since 1994. He is on the New England HPA Executive Board since 1994. Myron received the "Don Harrison Sportmanship Award" in 1996.
When Myron is not busy doing all those other things, he also enjoys a good game of horseshoes. In league play he has played regularly, or subbed in the singles league from 1984-2000. He also played in the doubles league from 1983-1984.
Myron has played in many tournaments throughout New England, including 2 world tournaments. He played in the 1992 world tournament at Columbus, Ohio, and in 1994 he played in Syracuse, New York. He has played in the New England tournaments from 1983-1998. At the New Englands, in 1986 he finished first in class N, with a 6-1 record, and 17.1%. In 1990, Class PP he finished second, with a 5-2 record, and 12.7%. In 1996,class RR he finished second. In 1989, Class OO he finished third, with a 3-2 record, and 10.4%. In 1997 in class PP he finished in third place with a 19.3%. In the Vermont State Tournaments, he finished first once. Second place, three times, and third once. His best State Tournament was in 1997, at Bennington. He was in class E, had a 4-0 record, and averaged 20.2%. He also had a high game of 30.0%, his best in the State Tournaments.
Myron is well known throughout New England as a player and an organizer. The Vermont HPA is fortunate to have the knowledge and experience that Myron provides us. It is an honor and a privilege to induct Myron Selleck into the Vermont Hall of Fame as an Organizer.
